Description: We are an international M&A advisory firm (sellside and buyside) with offices globally (China, India, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia), as well as in Europe and the US with a 20 year history. BDA is currently looking for a temporary Intern (Junior Analyst) with 6/12 months+ experience to work in our London office. The London office covers all Europe-Asia activities for the firm. The position involves working with and supporting the senior and mid-level team in London on origination, research and execution in Europe, as well as our colleagues in other offices. Junior professionals have the opportunity to gain good exposure to clients and transactions. At the end of the internship we will evaluate our needs and consider the candidate for a junior position, if one is available.

BDA Partners is seeking a highly motivated executive (analyst/associate/senior associate) position for its Tokyo office. BDA provides an excellent opportunity to gain an expansive breadth of hands-on experience across sectors focusing on M&A (sell-side and buy-side) and Capital Raising.

The prospective candidate will provide project management and execution support on deals and prepare presentation materials to communicate their ideas and findings to clients. Specific duties will include preparing and overseeing junior resources in financial modeling, valuation analysis, client presentations, and market research. You will be expected to lead client diligence sessions, read definitive agreements and other transaction related documents and represent the firm as a mid-level banker. You would be responsible for specific business development responsibilities.  We would expect you to develop into a senior banker with within the firm.

Role/Responsibilities 

  • Work with clients in Japan/Asia region and participate in deal origination and execution of cross-border M&A transactions while supporting execution of international office mandates as appropriate
  • Provide support to senior investment banking professionals in Japan and internationally to develop marketing leads and ideas to generate new business
  • Define and prepare financial and technical work products based upon analyses for various M&A engagements for public and private companies, including buysides, sellsides, corporate carve-outs, and cross-border M&A situations
  • Coordinate with co-financial advisors, client’s legal counsel and other advisors in developing complex strategic solutions for clients
  • Support negotiations and preparation of key transaction documents including confidentiality agreements, merger agreements, sale leaseback agreements, asset purchase agreements, other ancillary documents and deal marketing materials
  • Conduct due diligence and assess seller’s and target’s business plans, growth prospects and financial performance
  • Perform valuation analysis and apply diverse methodologies, including comparable company analysis, precedent transaction analysis, leveraged buyout analysis, and discounted cash flow analysis
  • Attend meetings with client’s senior client team members
  • Prepare complex financial and strategic work plans, manage available resources, and assign responsibilities

 

Desired Skills and Experience 

  • MBA is preferred but not required
  • Strong quantitative and accounting skills
  • Significant experience managing deals through the entire execution phase is critical.  Experience working on cross-border mandates welcomed
  • Strong client management skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong work ethic, a team player, organized and high level of attention to detail
  • Foreign language fluency (Mandarin/Cantonese, Korean) welcomed but not required
  • Willingness to travel

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of HCMC and other Southeast Asia offices and liaise with outsourced service providers
