BDA works with Loreto improving local learning environments

April 2019 saw the official opening of the new classrooms at Long Vinh C Primary School in Vietnam; a project that BDA partnered with Loreto Vietnam during their 2018 offsite in Ho Chi Minh City. In the guise of a treasure hunt across the city, raising money and awareness for the charity, BDA Partners employees were able to raise US$46,000 for Loreto, which paid for three of the classrooms to be built.

Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, Nguyen Viet Dung, Executive Director at Loreto Vietnam said “Many thanks for your heartfelt support. It’s been deeply appreciated by the local authority and community of Tra Vinh Province at their thank you speeches at the event including Deputy Head of Union of Friendship Organisations, Deputy Chair of People’s Committee. More than that, there’s no bigger happiness than seeing the smiling faces of teachers and students at this new beautiful school.”

Paul DiGiacomo, Senior Managing Director at BDA Partners stated, “It was great to partner with such a deserving charity as Loreto Vietnam. It was especially rewarding for us to see the whole firm participate and interact with the children who would be directly benefiting from our work. We are glad to have provided support for the classroom renovation and to have attended the opening ceremony. We look forward to working on our next CSR challenge at our annual offsite in Shanghai.”

About Loreto

Loreto Vietnam works to empower children in Vietnam’s most underprivileged communities by facilitating access to education through the building of classrooms, libraries, safe toilets, computer rooms and multipurpose educational rooms in rural communities in southern Vietnam that could not otherwise afford such facilities. Loreto Vietnam also distributes school packs (containing uniforms, shoes, stationary sets, exercise books etc.), bicycles and helmets, as well as scholarships to underprivileged children. Since 1997 Loreto Vietnam has changed the lives of tens of thousands of Vietnamese children.

The programs of Loreto Vietnam aim to provide equitable access to quality education for young people from underprivileged contexts within southern Vietnam. Through consultation and partnership with local education communities, Loreto’s programs seek to address identified needs and deliver sustainable benefits for both the individuals and their communities. Through fair distribution, community partnership commitments, and capacity building activities within these educational communities, Loreto aims to facilitate longer-term engagement in the education system for young people from underprivileged backgrounds, and sustainable change and lasting benefits for these individuals and their communities. www.loretovietnam.org
