Andrew Huntley on VNews: Vietnam’s achievements in 2022

Andrew Huntley, Co-founder and Managing Partner of BDA Partners, spoke to VNews about Vietnam’s achievements in 2022 and outlook for 2023.

“Vietnam’s economy showed encouraging signs of recovery in 2022, with significant gains following the pandemic. The drivers of this growth include a resurgence in domestic consumption and an upturn in exports, particularly in the manufacturing sector, which saw a 13% increase. This recovery can be attributed in part to the post-covid-19 economic rebound, as well as the positive impact of trade agreements signed by Vietnam with the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Canada”, said Andrew Huntley, Co-founder and Managing Partner at BDA Partners.

“In the coming year, foreign direct investment will play a positive role as many investors are interested in Vietnam’s private sector. However, there are also challenges such as instability in the global economy and the dial pressure of inflation and interest rates. To continue to develop, Vietnam needs to address the lack of consistency between central and local governments in implementing investment projects. Additionally, there should be a focus on programs to attract international investment and co-investment, not only in areas where Vietnam is strong such as tourism and agriculture, but also in areas where sustainable forms of investment are needed to address environmental and climate change issues.”
