JP La Forest is a Senior Advisor based in Detroit. He was recently Vice President & Managing Director, Asia of Perceptron, Inc. (NASDQ: PRCP), a $70M+ maker of non-contact laser measurement systems where he oversaw a team of 71 members spread across six offices in China, India, Japan, Singapore, and the US.

He was formerly Director & Acting Country Manager of Tenneco Korea Ltd, a subsidiary of Tenneco Inc., a $8.2B auto components company. Before opening Tenneco’s office and operation in Korea, he worked on Korea, Japan, and China growth strategies as Director – Business Development. In addition, Mr. La Forest previously held dual appointments at the University of Michigan’s Business Engagement Center and Michigan Memorial Phoenix Energy Institute; co-founded Slingshot Solutions, an internet services firm focused on asset recovery and reverse logistics; worked as a consultant to the automotive industry, first with Booz & Co. and then at General Motors; held product engineering roles at Tenneco and AAP St. Mary’s, a subsidiary of Hitachi Metals; and completed expatriate assignments in Japan and Korea. He has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology from the University of Dayton.
